Nindila Training Centre

Bega Garnbirringu Health Services Incorporated (Bega) RTO#5729
Nindila Training Centre

Bega is both an employer and provider of training for Aboriginal Health Workers within the region.

Nindila Training Centre is the training arm of Bega and is therefore best placed and the most culturally appropriate provider of health related training in the region.

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people from within the Goldfields and surrounding areas were required to attend block release programs in Perth or relocate to a metropolitan region on a permanent basis to complete their studies.
This caused considerable barriers in terms of accessing educational and training opportunities for Indigenous people from the Goldfields region, which in turn, resulted in minimal numbers of people accessing the training programs.

We have found from previous experience and knowledge that providing training to Aboriginal people within their home communities, has kept students within the training programs, and provided good outcomes for education, training and employment opportunities after graduation.

Nindila is dedicated to the ongoing training and development of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, and strives to nurture and support students through their educational journey using a number of strategies tailored to individual learner needs.  The use of smaller classes and the provision of one on one support for those with literacy/numeracy difficulty is one such aspect.  In addition Nindila is managed and staffed almost entirely by local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons who possess in addition to the technical skills, the cultural competence and mentorship required for successful outcomes.

As well as providing in house training to Bega staff as required, the current scope consists of:
