Bega Garnbirringu Health Service

Health Promotion

Our Health Promotion team takes responsibility for coordinating a number of programs which address key areas of our service delivery.

This includes coordinating our Health Service’s involvement in local special cultural events, such as NAIDOC Week or Close the Gap Day.  The team also runs regular Gym Open Days at our Clinic to coincide with visiting specialist clinics as a means of promoting the importance of addressing lifestyle factors which contribute to chronic conditions, such as diet, exercise and smoking cessation.  In collaboration with Allied Health staff from the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital, the Health Promotions team runs a Heart Smart program for clients who have been identified with cardiac risk factors.  The Health Promotions team also regularly participates in community forums, local Indigenous radio and coordinates the design and printing of health promotion materials which are culturally appropriate for the Goldfields area.  A Health Services newsletter is in development.
